Mechanical Fitter/Turner Lowestoft £40,000 - £45,000pa Major Recruitment are currently looking for a Mechanical Fitter for our well-respected Marine Engineering client based in Lowestoft. The purpose of this role is to strip out overhaul/refurbish and install mechanical equipment on ships, using knowledge of mechanical, metallurgy and engineering requirements. Key Duties Support for docking and undocking of vessels, setting up blocks, carrying out line handling, fitting and monitoring of shores whilst docking is being carried out Installing and removing gangways/accesses to vessels. Carry out general labouring duties as required. Assisting management in ensuring that servicing, repairs and maintenance of company machinery and equipment is carried out. Background needs Essential to have a background in ship refitting specific. Preferable to have experience of new build of ships Experience of working with vessels. Good understanding of ship building/ship repair practices and to understand works specifications and equipment manuals and guides. Must have experience working with engines, propulsion systems, pump systems, hydraulics and deck machinery Must be able to interpret technical drawings, schematic part manuals and diagrams.
