The Opportunity
The School for Advanced Digital Technology is recruiting 2 permanent instructors to teach in the Data Analytics Program. Reporting to the Academic Chair, the Instructor will professionally manage the learning process of the students and ensure that students achieve established learning objectives to the maximum of their potential. You will use all available resources, methods, techniques, and strategies to ensure student success and outcomes are met. Look forward to working collaboratively with colleagues to create a learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported, and innovative in nature.
The Role
- Prepare and present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstration for learners
- Maintain records for the purpose of grading, assess professionalism and track attendance in both theory and lab classes
- Manage the classroom or lab to ensure a positive learning environment
- Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
- Curriculum maintenance and development to remain up to date with Industry standards and best practices
- Attend and contribute to Team meetings and continuous collaboration with Academic Chair and other instructional staff to provide the highest degree of learner experience
- Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
- Provide on-going support, guidance, and advice to students
- Minimum
- Bachelor Degree in field
- Experience in multiple roles within the Data Analysis industry is required
- 5 years current industry experience, within the last 2 years or prior to teaching assignment if currently teaching in-field
- Scholarly or in-field related project activity and research profile is required
- Previous Leadership role experience is required
- A combination of the following Certifications (or equivalent) is required:
- Experience in developing responsive web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (e.g., jQuery, AJAX)
- Database design, administration, and programming using SQL
- Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems (GUI and CLI)
- Proficiency in Python, R programming languages, and various frameworks and APIs, primarily for web and UI development, data prediction, and visualization
- Preferred
- Master preferred
- Ph.D. an asset
- Expertise in one or more of the following competencies: Designing and using tools to create user interfaces for desktop, web, and mobile applications.
- Comprehensive understanding of operating system internals, including process management, memory management, file systems, and storage management.
- Skills Required
- Teaching experience at a post-secondary institution in Canada is an asset
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to organize and present written information effectively
- Strong commitment to delivering high-quality instruction within set deadlines
- Team player, a strong ability to work within a team structure, supporting the team goals and vision is desired
- Adherence to best practices for securing web applications, databases, and software
