Registered Nurse - Critical Care Development Program

Status: Regular Full Time

Location: Oshawa & Ajax (Cross Site Responsibilities)
Wage Schedule: $39.07 - $56.00 per hour
Program: Critical Care Float Team


We are currently looking for enthusiastic and experienced Registered Nurses interested in furthering their career in Critical Care at Lakeridge Health by participating in the Critical Care Development Program.

Program Description:

Successful applicants for the Critical Care Development Program will be enrolled in the Michener Institute's Critical Care course. Admission requirements for the Michener Institute Course must be met. The Critical Care program will provide financial resources for eligible Registered Nurses to complete the Critical Care course including:

" Payment for tuition costs
" Payment for full time salary and benefits or % in lieu while completing the course (11 weeks)
" Paid clinical placement hours at the employee's current hourly rate

Successful applicants may work on the unit prior to commencing the program in a temporary adjunct role. Upon successful completion of the program, the Registered Nurse will transfer to a Full Time Critical Care position as part of the Critical Care Float Team. A commitment of 24 months working in Critical Care following completion of the course is expected.

Qualifications:

" Commitment to successfully complete the Michener course at time of hire;
" Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
" Current B.C.L.S.;
" Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by CNO;
" BScN preferred;
" Recent experience in an acute care setting preferred;
" Proven organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and teaching skills;
" Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete assignments in a reasonable length of time;
" Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills;
" Proven ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations;
" Proven ability to lift, turn and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;
" Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership/supervisory role;
" Knowledge of invasive monitoring, preferred;
" Evidence of ongoing education preferred;
" Must have a satisfactory performance record;
" Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
" Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area; and
" Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.
