Peel Regional Paramedic Services is one of Canada’s busiest paramedic services, responding to more than 140,000 calls in a typical year. Reporting to the Health Services Commissioner, the Chief & Director, Paramedic Services is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the department to provide the community with the highest quality of care through various programs – pre-hospital emergency response, community safety and relations, and community paramedicine. The Chief will provide progressive leadership and operational direction, delivering outcomes with a multi-disciplinary staff of over 750 (80% union and 20% non-union). This position will engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships and achieve results that enhance the quality of life for residents, visitors, and communities, while fostering a supportive, equitable, and inclusive work environment.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have a university degree in Health Sciences or a related health discipline, along with practical experience as a paramedic and 8 years in a senior leadership role delivering paramedic services. You should have a key role in establishing divisional strategic and business plans in alignment with departmental and corporate goals. With sound decision-making skills, you can make critical decisions in emergency planning, coordination and command, communications, operations, and logistics. A solid understanding of health equity and experience working with community partners to address barriers to care is essential. You should have managed external contract resources, multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets, and be known for building collaborative partnerships across the industry.Where To ApplyThe Region of Peel is an equal opportunity employer.
