Head of Commercial Opportunity | Brisbane Based

Infrastructure People are partnering with a Rail business seeking a Head of Commercial to sit in an executive role within the organisation structure.

With an exciting pipeline of works already confirmed for 2025, our client is on a large growth path and sees this role as a key hire within the business. Specialising in complex Rail Infrastructure, our client is well known for delivering high quality projects, maintaining key relationships and building sustained growth. Qualifications and Experience

Degree qualified or equivalent Minimum 12 years relevant experience within engineering/construction environment/ legal or commercial Comprehensive knowledge of the commercial management and governance requirements of infrastructure projects Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of contract management, program financial management, supply chain management, risk and opportunity management, performance reporting, budget preparation and administration Principles of continuous improvement in relation to commercial application Principles of supervision, training, performance evaluation and professional development Ability to develop and manage the commercial aspects of multiple projects/programs of work High level ability to forecast, manage and report on complex budgets High level conceptual and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues and to solve difficult problems on a regular basis, identifying causes and offering alternative solutions In-depth knowledge of commercial and risk management processes and practices, and the ability to apply these across multiple projects/programs of work Capable of developing a high-level understanding of client expectations and a high-level ability to form and maintain positive relationships Understanding of sustainable procurement is desirable Personal Qualities

Strong negotiating, listening and communication skills with an ability to relate to people from a wide range of positions Ability to lead and influence the performance of team members towards the achievement of team goals Ability to effectively handle high stress environments with resilience Strong stakeholder and communication management skills Proven experience in leading and managing a team Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to influence across the organisation and externally Position Requirements

Provide leadership to the Commercial Team, ensuring collaboration, consistency of process and practice and excellent teamwork with the project Participates in the preparation, submission, and agreement of the project monthly reports (PMRs) Manages the preparation and submission of interim progress claims and final accounts, and ensures their timely processing Handles all subcontract progress payment claims, variations, contractual claims and final accounts in accordance with the terms of the contract Manages contractual issues associated with subcontractors/suppliers and provides advice to the project delivery leads on contractual issues Analyses financial and cost reports identifying existing or potential variances/trends, providing challenge and recommendations as appropriate for agreement with the project delivery leads Plans and allocates tasks to ensure deadlines are met, and monitors performance of any subordinates to ensure high standards of technical performance in contract administration functions Establishes the commercial and contractual management processes and procedures for the delivery teams. This includes the cost/value reconciliation of project budgets ensuring Actual Outturn Costs (AOC) are delivered in a robust manner. A key component of this is the demonstration of Value for Money (VfM), robust, accurate forecasting, and the capturing of benchmarking data Assist Estimators where necessary to ensure that costs for estimates are based on realistic timing and cost structures Responsible for all project procurement, ensuring procurement is in line with company policy and procedure, and incorporates sustainable procurement practices (indigenous participation etc) Manages relationships with associations such as Supply Nation Develop and manage Corporate CSR and Sustainability Targets and review each project set of targets Monitor and review each project's sustainability against the corporate targets on a quarterly basis Review risks and opportunities across all facets of project risk, social and environmental aspects Conduct annual reviews on sustainability against the corporate targets and re-evaluate targets where necessary With the project delivery leads, develop and agree the project procurement strategy, and develop and implement the project procurement plan to support the project schedules How to Apply:
