Do you have a knack for supporting students with Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs (SEMH)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team at a co-educational secondary school in Gateshead as a Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs (SEMH) Teaching Assistant! As a Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs (SEMH) Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant: Provide one-on-one and group support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs (SEMH). Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs). Support classroom teachers in managing student behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment. Foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all students. Monitor and report on student progress to teachers and parents. Collaborate with other staff members to create and maintain a supportive school community. Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant: Previous experience working with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people. Relevant qualifications or training in education or child development. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the school and students. Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
