Your mission will be to build and refine our investment platform and tools to meet the growing needs of our business. Our firm leverages data-powered proprietary systems that are crucial for trading speculative wholesale power contracts and hedging risk in our portfolios. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and enhancing these systems and tools, ensuring a seamless experience for our investment teams to support informed decision-making and transactions.ResponsibilitiesBuilding out proprietary systems and tools that are the backbone of our business in trading speculative wholesale power contracts and hedging out risk in our existing portfoliosInterfacing directly with Investment Analysts, Investment Engineers, Data Engineers, and DevOps Engineers to deliver needed tools and improve the existing platformDesigning, building, and maintaining critical tools and processes used to transact in energy marketsEnsuring excellence in code quality and architectureProposing architectural improvements and changes to ATX’s platform and tools to up our gameMentoring early career engineers in software development best practices in order to foster an environment of excellence and growthMinimum Requirements5+ years of experience in a Software Engineering or similar roleStrong coding skills in Python, FastAPI preferredFull stack coding experience, with a passion for backend architecture and a comfort with working on the frontend (React)Strong testing mentalityExperience with Docker and KubernetesAn ability to grapple with quantitative concepts and systems, as this role interfaces with largely technical and quantitative peersComfort working both individually as well as collaboratively, at times in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentStrong ownership of work to proactively lead improvements for the Investment Engineering teamA love of learning new technologies and a desire to experiment with new tools and systemsA Little More About UsWe play with vast amounts of data and turn our findings into actionable trading decisionsWe try to explain how things work both fundamentally and quantitativelyWe build all our own proprietary tools, enabling us to prototype, iterate quickly, and pivot when necessaryWe automate as many redundant processes as possible to maximize time spent on analysisWe move quickly with minimal bureaucracy and a high level of ownershipWe have a team-first mindset, and focus on developing our team membersWe believe strongly in the value of maintaining a variety of perspectives and experiences within our teamWe work in a collaborative, casual environment, yet also expect high throughput from each member of our teamWe pride ourselves on our openness, transparency, and horizontal structure.
