SCOPE: Reporting to the Plant Manager the primary role of the Production Supervisor is to maximize the level of operational and quality performance by ensuring that the daily packaging, production, and sanitation plan is carried out on schedule, and maintains consistent product quality and integrity. The Production Supervisor directly supervises, mentors, and coordinates packaging, production and sanitation staff, in a manner that drives food safety, productivity, maintains engagement, and ensures a safe work environment. Hours are flexible in order to have presence with both the day and afternoon shift. The secondary role of this position is to contribute to the effective and efficient implementation of the packaging and production area’s operational plan by assisting the Plant Manager in identifying and implementing efficiency improvements in the plant. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Organize, deploy and measure weekly/day-to-day production for the shift and consult with the Production Manager in regards to production schedules and needed changes. Maintain approvals in Workday (timecards, vacation, and absence requests) as well as sign off on daily and weekly quality checklists. Consult with the Plant Manager regarding staffing, staff issues, and extended leave requests. Co-ordinate sanitation schedule for cleaning packaging lines as required. Respond to routine operational issues including troubleshooting and requesting maintenance as needed. Assist with the correction of product problems and process deficiencies, suggest efficiency ideas that improve food safety or throughput. Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner. Assures product quality through HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety and adhering to our quality program. Ensure employee adherence to SOP’s when performing job responsibilities and tasks. Works collaboratively and maintains essential communications with other company departments to achieve plant operational results. Develop and maintain a team-based, respectful work environment by providing leadership, direction, coaching, training, and clear and consistent communication. Identifies training needs and provides training for staff. Shares personal knowledge and skills to develop competence of staff. Foster safe work practices by enforcing standard safety procedures and as required develop and implement practical recommendations for safety practices. COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates leadership ability and interpersonal skills that engage employees, create a team environment, drive employee productivity and competence. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to communicate one-on-one and in group settings. Deal with changes, delays, or unexpected events in a professional and timely manner. Flexible and controlled under crisis situations. Answer off hour and weekend calls from the plant. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 5 years of production manufacturing experience in food production or packaging facility and minimum 2 years in a team lead/ supervisory role. Post-secondary education in a relevant field (Food Manufacturing, Engineering, Business or Operations Management) or relevant experience. Proficient in report writing, communication, and facilitation, demonstrating ability in conveying complex information effectively. Experience working under a HACCP/GMP system and maintaining this system. Results orientation with a disposition towards continuous improvement. Highly organized with excellent time management/priority setting skills and knows how to make the right decisions. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
