Accounts Payable Officer

Job title – Payables Officer Job type – 4-month FTC Location – York Hours – Part or Full time (between 15-35hours/week dep. on experience) Salary - £16.34/hr (£29,700 pa FTE) This position is a great opportunity to work for a well-known charity in York in a part or full time 4-month, fixed term contract as a Payables Officer. This role is part of the Payables Team and you will be responsible for ensuring that all transactions are properly accounted for and processed according to company policies and procedures. The Payables Officer will: * be lead point of contact on many areas such as invoice processing, Civica Financials queries, purchasing card issues and petty cash claims. * provide cover for the Purchase Ledger month-end processes & reports. * be responsible for processing priority payments, cheques, refunds and returned BACS payments. * deputise as required for the Payables Manager and on a regular basis. * act as the first level of escalation for payables issues such as court summons or legal letters including handling disputes between internal stakeholders and suppliers. * have a proactive approach to risk management ensuring risks are identified and reported to Payables Manager for escalation. * work with Payables Manager to co-ordinate the implementation of new payables projects. For example, document management system and Pleo cards. * contribute to projects across the organisation as required including finance led strategic work and organisational projects. Key to this position of Payables officer is building strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to enable timely query resolution. · A good working knowledge of all Payables procedures · Proficient IT user with at least intermediate levels skills in Microsoft Excel and the Office suite · Accuracy and numeracy, with the ability to understand, and work on, finance data Initial interviews - ASAP Client interviews - 21st June Purchase ledger/payables/finance/Civica/Cloud based accounting sotware/accounts/finance/contract
