We are seeking a Prototyping Technician who embodies a tinkerer’s spirit and has a passion for hands-on work. If you love fixing things, building from scratch, and have a knack for creative problem-solving, you’ll find your home here. You’ll play a crucial role in turning concepts into tangible prototypes, collaborating with our design and engineering teams to refine and iterate on new ideas.At Waterloo Technical, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation and design. We believe in fostering an environment where curiosity and craftsmanship can flourish.Key Responsibilities:Prototype Development: Build, test, and refine prototypes based on design specifications, ensuring functionality and quality.Hands-On Assembly: Utilize a variety of tools and materials to construct prototypes, from electronics to mechanical components.Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with prototypes, employing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to improve designs.Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and designers to understand project goals and provide feedback on designs based on hands-on experience.Documentation: Maintain detailed records of prototypes, including processes, materials used, and any modifications made.Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and safely stored, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.Continuous Learning: Stay updated on new technologies and methods in prototyping and fabrication.Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in a related field is a plus.Experience: Previous experience in prototyping, fabrication, or a hands-on technical role (either as a hobby or at work)Skills:Proficiency with hand and power tools.Basic knowledge of electronics and mechanical systems.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Personal Traits:A tinkerer at heart who enjoys building and fixing things.Creative and resourceful with a passion for hands-on work.You enjoyed building with LEGO as a child :).Why Join Us?At Waterloo Technical, we value creativity and encourage a culture of innovation.
