About the Role The Prevent Education Officer role is an exciting role that is designed to work closely with schools and colleges – developing resources to be delivered to pupils and students in order to equip them with the critical thinking skills that can help to safeguard against exploitation, as well as building awareness of vulnerabilities among teaching staff.  Key deliverables include: Develop appropriate training packages and lesson resources to ensure that educational and other professional settings are fulfilling their requirements under the Prevent Duty. Provide expert advice on safeguarding concerns pertaining to radicalisation and extremism and develop and deliver briefings and training sessions to staff from the education sector. Engagement with other services across the council and partners such as Children’s Services and Community Safety ensuring that the organisation is meeting its Prevent Duty. Act as the point of contact for the DofE and the Home Office on Prevent delivery in education settings. About You The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate: The ability to build strong relationships, encouraging co-operation and acting as the link between multiple contacts, both within and outside the Council. Have demonstrable experience in delivering training to professionals and giving presentations and workshops to young people. Excellent communication skills – interacting effectively with a range of partners, both in writing and orally. Possess good knowledge and awareness of the government’s Prevent strategy, be politically aware and solve problems creatively whilst being informed by policy. About the Team The Safer Stronger Communities team is a busy and energetic team which includes various units such as ASB, Integrated Offender Management, Prevent, Hate Crime, Regulatory Services, and Waste Management. The post holder will work within a small, collaborative structure within the Community Safety Team and engage in projects and objectives that are contained within the Prevent strategy and contribute towards building community resilience against extremism and supporting those vulnerable to radicalisation in the borough
