The Design Engineerwill be responsible for electrical modeling, design and field commission activities. To be successful in this position, you should be passionate about engineering as a discipline, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be proficient in ETAP and AutoCAD.You will be working in a friendly and collaborative environment with the opportunity to interface directly with clients.
Main Responsibilities & Duties:
- Model and analyze electrical facilities and microgrids in ETAP and conduct analysis, including connection impact assessments, protection and control analysis, and Arc Flash.
- Create AutoCADdrawings,schematicsanddiagramsforelectricaldistribution,metering,andcommunicationssystems.
- Performdesignandcalculationsrelatedto metering and protection system configurations.
- Writeengineeringreports, feasibilitystudies,andreviewsrelatedto energyservicesprojects.
- Develop and approve vendor equipment specifications.
- Providetechnicalsupporttointernal and external stakeholders.
- Provide presales technical support in the form of pricing, cost estimation, technical proposals, and solutions engineering.
- Participate in field commissioning activities of electrical subsystems comprising of protection relays, meters, monitoring and power quality equipment and other ancillary electrical distribution components such as switchgear, instrumentation, pole mounted equipment, etc.

QualificationsandSkills:
- Bachelor'sDegreeinaUniversityElectricalEngineeringprogram.
- Registered as a Junior Engineer or actively working towards Professional Engineer status with PEO and/or APEGA, or already registered as a Professional Engineer
- 2-6years work experiencepreferablyin powerdistribution,generation, design-buildand/or consulting industries.
- Knowledgein PowerSystems and three-phase power, as demonstrated by theoretical understanding, best practices, standards, and electrical safety practices.
- ExperiencewithETAPorequivalent.
- Proficiencyinpowersimulationsoftwareperformingavarietyofelectricalstudies,suchasLoadFlow, ShortCircuitAnalysis,TransientAnalysis,Sizingstudies,etc. is an asset.
- Advancedknowledgeof MSExcel,MathCad, Matlabandotherengineeringsoftwarewill beanasset.
- Strongcustomerserviceorientation, verbal and written communication,self-motivated,and strong organizational capabilities.
- Exceptionalwrittenand verbalcommunicationskills.
- Knowledge of the wholesale power markets is an asset.
