Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing all financial transactions and accounting activities of the company. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

They are open to candidates who are keen to learn and evolve alongside their business. This position is in office 5 days a week. Note that this role is not suitable for someone looking to pursue their CPA.

Responsibilities

? Assist with full cycle bookkeeping and payroll functions (when required).

? Ensure compliance with related GST/HST tax remittances to the government, sales ledger, receivables, expenses, and payables.

? Maintain, monitor, and reconcile GL accounts to detailed reports including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities and intercompany and point of sale (POS) system uploads.

? Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

? Overseeing the recording of all transactions and performing accurate reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their integrity.

? Support the creation of financial documents such as balance sheets and profit & loss statements.

? Establish and sustain a systematic accounting documentation system, safeguarding the confidentiality of financial data.

? Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.

? Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.

? Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with owners.

? Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments, and installments

? ERP system management (maintain chart of accounts, system requirements for report building etc.)

? Close the transactional month-end on the company schedule.

? Work collaboratively and develop and maintain relationships with the owners and management team.

? Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals as needed.

? Lead and support A/R practices and interface with excellent customer service and communication skills amongst business partnersSkills and Experience

? Certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting

? 5 to 7 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience

? Experience working with multiple holding companies

? Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and tax regulations.

? Proficient in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks, Dext Prepare, and Dext Commerce.

? Skilled in the use of GSuite applications and familiarity with client management software like Canopy or equivalent.

? Superior organizational capabilities and a high level of attention to detail.

? Capable of juggling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and adhering to deadlines.

? Understanding of sales taxes (GST, HST), payroll taxes and corporate taxes.

? Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. English required; French is an asset.

? Understanding of customer service acumen and the role of accounting in the excellence of business operations.
