Cover Supervisor

Job Title: Cover Supervisor Location: Southwark Start Date: September Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent Salary: £27,308 (Actual salary – for 42.9 weeks) Role Overview We are working with a secondary school in Southwark who is seeking an experienced and highly organised Cover Supervisor to join their team. This role involves not only covering lessons across the school but also taking on additional responsibilities related to the daily planning and assignment of cover for absent teachers. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and capable of managing multiple tasks with a calm and efficient approach. Key Responsibilities * Daily Cover Assignment: The Cover Supervisor will arrive at school by 7:00 AM each day to assign cover, ensuring that lessons are covered effectively and with minimal disruption to student learning. * Self-Coverage: In the first instance, the Cover Supervisor will assign cover to themselves, utilising their skills and experience to maintain continuity in student education. * Subject Specialist Allocation: Where possible, the Cover Supervisor will assign cover to subject specialists as part of their directed time, ensuring high-quality subject-specific instruction. * Next Day Planning: The Cover Supervisor will proactively plan cover for the next day, anticipating potential absences and ensuring that all classes are adequately supervised. * Lesson Delivery: The Cover Supervisor will deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects, maintaining a positive learning environment and managing student behaviour in line with school policies. * Collaboration: The Cover Supervisor will work closely with the school's administrative and teaching staff to ensure smooth daily operations and the effective implementation of the school's cover strategy. * Adaptability: The Cover Supervisor must be flexible and ready to adapt to changes in the cover schedule as needed, ensuring that all teaching and learning requirements are met. Qualifications and Skills * Experience: Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role within an educational setting is essential. * Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage daily cover assignments efficiently. * Communication: Excellent communication skills to liaise with staff and manage student interactions effectively. * Proactivity: A proactive approach to planning and problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate needs and act accordingly. * Flexibility: Willingness to cover lessons across various subjects and adapt to changing circumstances.
