The North Vancouver Island PCI Health Society is seeking a Mental Health Team Lead/Clinician for the North Vancouver Island area to provide mental health services which are sustainable and honour the customs and traditions of First Nations communities located in the North Vancouver Island area. The Mental Health Team Lead/Clinician will be providing services at First Nation's Health Centres, Sacred Wolf Friendship Centre, and Building Blocks locations.
The Mental Health Team Lead/Clinician provides supervision and direction to our Mental Health Clinicians and supports the team-based care approach working closely with the FNPCI Team. Mental health services include consultation, intake, assessment, collaborative care planning, education, navigation and connection to other resources. The Mental Health Team Lead/Clinician to have a good understanding of the intergenerational trauma in First Nation communities.
Education, Training & Experience:
Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and/or Clinical Social Work or related health professional qualifications with a specialization in mental health, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Advanced training in threat/risk assessment and/or trauma response, as well as training in brief intervention approaches.
Three years supervision and clinical counselling experience.
Member of or qualify for membership of either the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors or Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
Five (5) to seven (7) years experience working with complex social systems or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Three (3) years direct experience in a clinical mental health and addictions setting working with children and youth and/or adults.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience working with trauma informed, culturally sensitive perspective.
Knowledge and understanding of Kwakwaka'wakw culture and values; and impacts of colonization.
In-depth knowledge of cultural safety and humility.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
