Transport Supervisor
Menzies Distribution are currently looking for an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our busy team based in Larkhall. You will be responsible for developing and building efficient routes whilst maximising vehicle capacity, ensuring all work is distributed whilst complying with Transport Legislation, Health & Safety and customer service requirements. Ensuring that the Transport Planners deliver the customer’s products on time and in full using the most cost effective means possible and best use of available resources including maximising the utilisation of Menzies Drivers in line with current driver hours and WTD legislation.
(The successful applicant will hold a in-date HGV/LGV Class 1 Licence)
The Details:
Salary: £33,908.43 Per Hour / £16.30 Per Hour
Shift: Monday to Friday
Hours: 14:00 - 22:00
Locaton: ML9 2QX

Key Duties and Accountabilities: (will include but not be limited to)
Ensure that your Site Planners plan all relevant customer deliveries utilising the software available at site to ensure delivery windows are met.
Through liaising with your Site Planners that you are fully aware of any delays and possible issues with delivery.
Liaise with the Customer as required in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery.
Source local agency drivers as and when required (in conjunction with our PSL) providing an accurate brief of job required.
Source local sub contractors as and when required.
Co-ordinate a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines.
Ensure that Site Planners are aware that the loads meet safety standards.
Manage the Site Planners ensuring they are using the most efficient start times.
Ensure adequate Pre-Briefing of Drivers is taking place to ensure that they fully understand their instructions.
Ensure adequate De-Briefing of Drivers upon their return to ensure that all documentation has been completed correctly.
Ensure your Site Planners are compliant with Working Time Directive.
Ensure that the Site Planners regularly Download Driver cards for analysis
Ensure that the Site Planners Comply with all Transport legislation reducing tachograph infringements to below the company target and adhering to WTD regulations.
Ensure that the Site Planners Conduct regular meetings/ reviews including probation assessments and return to work interviews with their drivers.
Ensure compliance with Agency Driver checklist.
Communicate routes to and liaise with other Menzies Depots
Record trailer information on all inbound/outbound deliveries and stand trailers.
Fully understand and communicate agreed KPI’s for Department
All other transport office related duties
Key Experience and Qualificaitions

Experience of working in a busy Transport office
Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement.
