The ideal candidate will be an experienced documentation specialist with a strong background in R&D environments. They are highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent project management and communication skills. Proficiency in regulatory compliance and documentation systems is an asset, along with a commitment to driving process improvements and ensuring operational excellence.

As a R&D Documentation Program Lead, you will report directly to the R&D Core Services Manager. Your role will encompass key responsibilities related to documentation, R&D programs management, training, audits to ensure compliance and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Documentation Management:
    • Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for R&D projects, including SOPs, raw material specifications, finished goods specifications, formula management in our systems, supporting customer portal documentation requirements, and audits.
    • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory requirements and industry standards.
    • Maintain a centralized documentation system for easy access and retrieval of R&D records.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of documentation.

  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
    • Develop, implement, and update SOPs and workflows to streamline R&D processes.
    • Ensure SOPs are comprehensive and reflect world class R&D practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Cross-functionally collaborate with various departments to standardize and optimize procedures.

  • Training and Development:
    • Design and conduct training programs for team members on new and existing SOPs.
    • Develop training materials and ensure all team members understand and adhere to SOPs.
    • Assess training effectiveness and update programs as needed.

  • Compliance and Audit Support:
    • Provide support during audits to ensure all documentation and processes comply with standards.
    • Regularly review and update documentation to maintain compliance with regulatory and company standards.
    • Assist in the preparation for regulatory inspections and customer audits.
    • Supporting audits such as SQF, QAI, Organic compliance, LPO certification.

  • R&D Project Support:
    • Lead operational and quality projects as needed with an understanding of project timelines, goals, and objectives to support effective decision-making.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution and accurate documentation of results.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in a scientific field, such as biology, chemistry, or food science.
  • Proven experience in project management & documentation management, preferably within an R&D environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of SQF food safety standards, as well as organic, non-GMO standards is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools and systems.
  • Skilled in team training and comfortable navigating change management.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a research or development environment, preferably in the food industry.

This role offers a salary range (based on experience) between $65,600 - $98,400 with a 10% bonus. This is a hybrid opportunity based out of our HQ in Richmond, BC.
