Who are we looking for? As part of this initiative, our team is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Team Lead to join the Engineering Design Organization at our Calgary or Vancouver office. Position Responsibilities: Managing the Western Canada mechanical design team, consisting of engineers and designers. Work with the Business Group Leader (BGL) to establish the resourcing, systems, and processes to deliver services to meet client expectations and requirements. Work with the BGL to develop, coach, and mentor the team. Inspire a collaborative environment to foster engagement, development, and retention of the group under your responsibility. Schedule and manage workload for the team. Ensure timely completion of project deliverables, handling several projects at once and determining priorities, including demonstrating sound judgement and decisiveness. Supervise and lead the production of engineering designs, calculations, drawings, details, and specifications from concept to final design for tender and contract packages. Coordinate all aspects of the building mechanical design from preliminary stages, including being responsible for the design of plumbing layout, HVAC, and fire protection systems in retrofit or new projects. Provide practical technical advice and mentorship to engineers and technical staff for the completion of projects. Build effective relationships with the business group's key contacts. Technical review and quality control of design drawings and documents. Complete designs following budget and schedule. Develop and implement QA/QC processes for project work. Mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff, and work with CAD staff. Contribute towards the ongoing GHD design practice standardization across the region and nationally. Communicate and work with other project team members to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards. Site inspections of existing infrastructure as well as those under construction. Provide construction support, including the review of submittals and requests for information. Support Design Managers (DMs) on proposals by providing the technical scope of a project and the level of effort required to complete mechanical designs and deliverables. Represent GHD at client meetings when required. What you will bring to the team: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum 10 years of building mechanical design experience including plumbing and drainage, HVAC, fire protection, and BAS systems. Well-versed and familiar with applicable codes and standards including, but not limited to, the ABC, ASHRAE, NFPA, CSA, and National Plumbing Code. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP. Demonstrated experience in mechanical design delivery for larger, multi-discipline projects. Experience in managing teams to develop, mentor, and lead professional technical staff. Contract administration. Detailed understanding of local agency codes and standards. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to work both independently and in a team. Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail. Experience in process mechanical would be considered an asset. Experience working in Design Build, EPC, and alternative delivery models would be considered an asset. #J-18808-Ljbffr
