As an Administrative Assistant with VCH you will:
Provide administrative support services to clients in Primary Care and/or clients who have mental health, drug and/or alcohol misuse/addiction issues.
Screen, prioritize and act upon requests and inquiries directed to the Manager and provides administrative support to staff in the designated program/service.
Assist the Manager with the recruitment and selection of staff, monitors program budgets, processes billing for the designated program/service and maintains a petty cash fund. Compiles statistics and produces reports and a variety of related documents.
Facilitate and participates in meetings, assists with administering training, maintains levels of stationary, ensures equipment maintenance, engages in on-going team planning and quality improvement activities and performs a variety of clerical duties.
Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with clients based on respect.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Grade 12, graduation from an approved Administrative/Secretarial program, supplemented with standard software computer courses.
Three (3) years’ recent related office management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of applicable Vancouver Community Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge of general office procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and confidentially both verbally and in writing.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Business writing skills.
Ability to type at 60 wpm.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to establish and maintain rapport with team members and other community staff.
Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
Ability to supervise.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Ability to do basic mathematical calculations.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
