The Collections Manager will lead a team responsible for the collection of outstanding customer account balances. Their role entails enhancing DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and mitigating bad debt losses, aligning with GFLs policies. This role is hands-on, involving the execution, management, and coordination of all collection activities to reduce and improve the aging of customers’ accounts receivable through assessment, evaluation, and interaction with customers and internal stakeholders. Effective communication skills with both customers and team members are essential for the Manager. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the ability to mentor and support the team within our expanding and dynamic organization. Key Responsibilities: Mentor a team of 9+, foster a team culture and develop an environment of continuous process improvement, best-in-class AR processes and financial controls Establish and maintain consolidated reporting to improve predictive capabilities and drive cash collection improvements Maintain KPI’s, dashboards and other month end schedules and reports to support the month end accounting close process; manage bad debt Establish and maintain and organizational structure that can deliver on company goals and objectives Oversee all day-to-day processes, maintain the corporate collections policy and recommend changes in the credit policy to senior management Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for direct reports Develop and manage key stakeholder relationships Maintain and develop relationships with national, large customer accounts and manage large customer account reconciliations Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: College Diploma or University Degree in Accounting or must have business/finance 5 + years experience with high volume AR, Credit and Billing; demonstrating success with creating and implementing best practices and SOX compliant internal controls Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and able to communicate with all levels of the organization, in a professional and competent manner Team player with positive attitude and strong work ethic High sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize competing requests to meet deadlines and achieve goals Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills to take issues across the finishing line and taking Initiative and thinking out of the box Strong Microsoft Excel skills. TRUX Route Management system experience are considered an asset
