Together we are able to meet the diverse needs of our clients across the country, offering everything from specialized services to large, complex end-to-end solutions.QM’s four business lines include Demolition and Decommissioning, Hazardous Materials Abatement, Environmental Remediation including Civil Earthworks, and Emergency Management & Environmental Response Services.We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager/Estimator - Demolition to join our team in Alberta.POSITION SUMMARYThe selected candidate will play an active role in our growing Demolition division by being responsible for executing projects that meet or exceed company financial targets, on time and within budget. The Project Managers will manage client relationships, ensuring projects meet or exceed key performance indicators, and business development in both identifying potential works and working with the estimating team throughout the bid process. The PM will also oversee on-site project resources, both human and capital, while ensuring that projects meet or exceed QM’s Health and Safety Policies and Programs.RESPONSIBILITIESProject EstimationAid in the pursuit of projects through the bid process. This may include aiding the writing of proposals, information gathering or other estimating tasks as assigned.Assist the estimating team on quantity take offs.In conjunction with the estimating team, prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, schedules and quantity verifications.Project ExecutionEnsures projects are executed in accordance with client contract (including sub-contracts or contract changes), key performance indicators, QM financial targets, within budget and on-timeOpening jobs (Project Billing Sheet) and obtaining contracts and purchase ordersProviding information for creation of accurate purchase orders and managing purchase order processBilling procedures, requirements, change order management, etc.Take lead on approving & submission of employees time/hours in a timely mannerPreconstruction submittals / permitsTaking lead on project file management, official communications / documentationJob kickoff with total project team – passing bid knowledge onDelegating work and engaging subcontractorsMonitoring / guiding execution (budget, schedule, quality)Ensuring project budget is up to date in our system while working with Project AdministratorsChairing project meetingsEnsuring / optimizing job profitability and financial performanceProject Close-OutManage the project close-out process: Collection of money, Post construction submittals, Project profile summary content provided to marketing, Lessons learned / post mortem (both financial and technical)Client Relationships and Business DevelopmentWorking with stakeholders to identify suitable business opportunities and prospectsWinning new business, cultivating and managing business relationships, both new and existingLeading the bid review process, including: responding to Request for Proposals, Request for Quotes, obtaining quotes and preparing cost estimates, reviewing contracts, evaluating bids, assessing risks, and presenting recommendations to leadership teamHealth and SafetyHave a good understanding of health & safety and ensures that all projects are executed in accordance with, and exceeding, all health and safety rules and regulations that apply, including QM’s Health and Safety Policies and ProgramsOther duties and responsibilities, as requiredQUALIFICATIONSExperienceMinimum 7 years’ experience in the Demolition industryMinimum 5 years' experience in Estimation.Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development and interacting with clientsIn project management with at least 5 years with the direct responsibility for all resource allocation and management responsibilities and with the administration of prime contracts, subcontracts, and contract changes.In preparing construction estimatesEducationGraduate from both a secondary and a post-secondary institution preferredAbilitiesTo understand contracts; communicate project risks effectively with clients and stakeholders and to negotiate contract changesTo work effectively with various computer software applications such as spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or similar), project management and scheduling (Microsoft Project or similar), financial accounting (Explorer Contract Manager or similar)Personal SuitabilityEffective interpersonal relationsLeadershipInitiativeThoroughnessIn addition to rewarding job opportunities, we offer an attractive employee package, including:Leading industry wages with competitive base salary, compensation programsIndustry leading safetyCareer progression/internal mobility opportunities including off season rotational opportunitiesCommunity investment activitiesA competitive employee referral programComprehensive benefits package including:Employer paid benefits: health, dental & moreHealth Care & Wellness Spending AccountEmployee Wellness ProgramEmployee savings plansAnd so much more!WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is primarily in an office environment but requires frequent travel to work sites, to monitor the progress of work and to meet with Site Superintendents and/or clients.COMPANY POLICIESCompliance with company policies is a requirement of employment.
