Adecco in partnership with our client are currently hiring a full-time Service Supervisor to work in Prince George, BC. In this role you will be responsible for the shop facilities and field service activities that maintain and repair heavy equipment for forestry, construction and utility operations.  This position independently makes decisions on day-to-day shop operations including work orders, work prioritization and deployment of resources.  Position has full supervisory responsibility for a shop of trades’ people including apprentices and labourers.

  • Pay Rate: $115,000 -$120,000/year (based on experience)

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees shop facilities and field service operations.

  • Ensures that operational requirements are met by supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of trades people who maintain, repair and rebuild customer equipment.

  • Assures a quality product by conducting in-process inspections and evaluating the finished product.

  • Takes corrective action to improve job results by counselling and disciplining employees when work standards or job results are not met.

  • Prepares warranty claim repair orders.

  • Coordinates work through other functions such as parts and warranty claims.

  • Maintains the Service Work Order to ensure accuracy and timely closing.

  • Accepts shipments and ships product by verifying shipments; determines method of shipment.

  • Ensures payroll and human resources policies and procedures are met and enforced.

  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by developing and enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations

  • Lead tool box talks and monthly safety meetings,

  • Ensure company policies and procedures are being observed.

  • Ensures all trades people are exercising safe procedures and that trade practices and regulations are followed.

  • Maintains staff by training; ensuring employees are trained in their assigned tasks; arrange and track training.

  • Serves customers by providing service information and by resolving service problems.

  • Resolves service problems by asking questions and clarifying the customer’s concerns; determining the cause of the problem; explaining the best solution; making the correction or adjustment; and following up to ensure resolution.

  • Prepares reports and quotations as required.

  • Serves as back-up to the Service Manager with customers.

  • Contributes to the Branch by accomplishing other related results and duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada

  • Position requires a thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of construction/mining equipment.

  • Requires journey level trade certification in a relevant trade.

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience as a qualified tradesman in a relevant trade is preferred.

  • Supervisory experience in an industrial environment is a requirement.

  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a large shop operation.

  • Also requires knowledge of OH&S acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
