Position Summary

Covering a maternity leave and reporting to the Director of Credit, the Collections Specialist is mainly responsible for collection, account reconciliation and maintaining a portfolio of accounts. This role involves contacting customers to pay past due balances, resolve billing discrepancies, negotiate payment arrangements, if necessary and maintain accurate records of collection efforts. The Collections Specialist plays a crucial role in optimizing cash flow and reducing bad debt, contributing to the financial stability of our company.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 40 hours

What you will do

  • Using various techniques, collect on/resolve all past due balances as quickly as possible
  • Investigate, identify and resolve customer short payments/deductions and overdue items in a timely manner, which includes gathering necessary approvals to process credits / debits as required
  • Document all collection activity on customer accounts
  • Work with internal departments such as Sales, Billing and Operations to resolve issues and maintain client base
  • Prepare detailed customer reconciliations and statements as required

What You’ll Bring

  • 1-3 years
  • College diploma; and/or CIC certification
  • B2B collections experience, preferably in a similar industry
  • Basic Excel skills
  • French written and verbal is an asset
  • Experience using Great Plains is an asset

  • Computer experience within a collection environment (online note taking & recording)
  • Very professional approach with internal and external customers
