We are currently recruiting for a Chef to work within a secure training centre that houses young offenders in Milton Keynes The facility is looking for a chef to cater for the working officers and youths within the property.

Shifts can vary between times 08:00 - 18:45, with half an hour for lunch, and alternative weekends off.

What's involved?
In this role, you'll be working with a team of chefs and enhanced inmates in Milton Keynes to deliver meals 3 times a day. You'll work alongside prisoner work forces and assist them in cooking meals, and preparing food. You'll need to undertake the relevant training as required, have full knowledge of the menu items served, while maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen area.

You'll be responsible for preparing basic quality foods within a pre-set, ordered menu and work as an excellent team player and will be able to deal with conflict if it arises. You will naturally be ambitious, very keen and an outstanding communicator and will use all of these to slip into each team seamlessly.

Requirements?

  • Must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years and have legal right to work
  • Must be able to pass full security vetting and DBS checks
  • Management of production to ensure minimal waste
  • Maintenance of food quality and brand standards throughout all service periods
  • Ensure maintenance of high hygiene and health and safety standards in line with the sites requirements and identify anomalies or incidents
  • Capturing and recording all volumes consumed and any overproduction
  • Assist in the compilation of all shift opening and closing checklists
  • Discuss ideas or improvements with the line manager
  • Be happy to act as a trainer/ coach for new team members to learn procedures and standards for all kitchen tasks
  • Undertake the relevant training when required

In addition to the above, chefs will also need to be willing to undertake front and back of house duties in line with business requirements.
