The District Teacher - Integration Support is responsible for enhancing educational practices and supporting student success across the Langley School District. This role involves providing certification in trauma-informed practices, consulting on student-specific plans, and responding to emergent safety situations. The teacher will collaborate with various professionals and community agencies, assist with student transitions, and actively participate in school-based team meetings.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide certification in trauma-informed practices and crisis training

Consult in the development of student specific plans

Participate and liaise with provincial outreach programs and other community agencies

Respond to emergent safety situations, following the protocols established by the Langley school district

Assist schools with transitions for students

Attend school-based team meetings as required

Collaborate with other district staff including Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Equip site-based staff to develop their professional practice by working alongside staff in schools on a consistent and ongoing basis.

Model inclusive strategies and practices (e.g. Universal Design for Learning, assessment, and interventions).

Co-design and co-teach with TTOCs, UTTOCs, Classroom, ELL, and Resource Teachers in schools.

Set up vacant K-12 classrooms, including systems, structures, and environmental design

Serve as an enrolling teacher (including as a TTOC) in vacancies as needed.

Collaborate in the design of district resources, systems, and structures.

Plan and present in-services and professional development activities.

Participate in ongoing professional development.

Nurture the gifts of all students.

Support the implementation and development of Langley School District’s Framework for Teaching and Learning.

Model, support, and integrate Trauma-Informed practice with staff and students, utilizing District approved strategies and resources.

Support the implementation of Langley School District’s Strategic Plan.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Education (Elementary / Middle / Secondary) degree, or equivalent training.

Two years of successful teaching experience in the regular classroom

A valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate, or in progress

Be able to philosophically and pedagogically meet the needs of a broad range of students

A Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent training

Two years of successful teaching experience in regular programs

Diploma in Special Education or equivalent with course work in the following areas: learning disabilities, behavior difficulties, mental handicaps, autism and assessment

Demonstrated ability in effective communication and collaborative/consultative skills

Participation as a member of a collaborative team and consult with school-based, district and outside agency personnel, and parents to assist with:

integration into regular classes of learners with low and high incidence special needs

the process of developing and implement Individual Education plans

identification of appropriate materials and equipment

in-service regarding integration issues

modelling and providing information regarding inclusive practices

PLEASE NOTE

The starting annual salary for this School Teacher position ranges from $50,000 to $104,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
