The Security Architect is responsible for designing, building, testing, and implementing security systems within an organization's IT network. This role involves assessing security risks, identifying vulnerabilities, and developing strategies to mitigate risks and enhance the organization's security posture. The Security Architect will work closely with IT teams and software developers to ensure the security of digital assets from cyber threats and attacks. Additionally, the Security Architect will work at the direction of the Director, Governance, Assessment and Awareness with other PHSA team members to analyze, report on, and action cyber security projects and events within the organization. This role will use their insight to assist in developing and refining the overall cyber security strategy of PHSA. What you’ll do Design and develop comprehensive security architectures, frameworks, and solutions tailored to meet the specific needs and requirements of the organization. Conduct risk assessments and analyses to identify potential security threats, vulnerabilities, and weaknesses within the organization's systems, networks, and applications. Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations, legal requirements, and best practices. Evaluate and assess security technologies, tools, and solutions to determine their suitability and effectiveness in addressing the organization's security needs. Coordinate and lead efforts to detect, analyze, and respond to security incidents and breaches. Collaborate with Information Privacy Offices across Health Authorities and the Ministry of Health with respect to security threat and risk assessments (STRAs) and ensure STRAs are developed and maintained. Manage and evolve cybersecurity standards and policies to ensure continual effectiveness and alignment with relevant and emerging best practices. Provide day-to-day operational management of the Governance, Awareness, and Assessment Services team. Develop and deploy mechanisms for monitoring program performance and monitor progress in achieving performance goals. Work at the direction of the Director, Governance, Assessment and Awareness with other PHSA team members to analyze, report on, and action cyber security projects and events within the organization. Use insight to assist in developing and refining the overall cyber security strategy of PHSA. What you bring Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or OSCP are highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on security architecture. Strong understanding of IT systems, network security, and risk management. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Experience with security technologies and tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols. Experience in healthcare or public sector environments. Knowledge of cloud security and cyber threat intelligence. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards, such as HIPAA, GDPR, and NIST. Job Type: Casual full-time hours (37.5 hours per week) Wage: $38.00 - $50.00/hour - as a casual employee, total earnings include an additional 13% in lieu of benefits and paid vacation. The rate for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
