Accountant

Accountant Location: Rutland Monday-Friday 37 hours 9:00-17:30 Salary: £20.47 per hour Contract dates: 1st July to 31st December 2024 Harper Recruitment are looking for an experienced accountant to join our client on a temporary basis. The client is a Local Authority and we are looking for someone who will provide insight and recommendations to support their strategic planning and decision-making. Duties will include: Using financial analysis to evaluate financial health & performance by identifying trends and variances Advising and assisting officers of the Local Authority to ensure they are effectively managing resources via budgeting, revenue management and expenditure control Developing financial strategies and long-term financial planning Preparing monthly reporting to Department Management Promoting best practise in financial management with the authority Undertaking projects and accountancy tasks across the local authority under the direction of the Head of Finance Skills and experience required: AAT, CCAB or CIMA part qualified/qualified or equivalent experience of operating at the same level Considerable post qualification in local government A strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of accounting and finance principles Experience of Managing Budgets and Year End Accounts Handling financial and management accounting and reporting at an advanced level Exceptional analytical skillsPlease note that this role has the potential to be fully remote.
