Teaching Assistant

GSL are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to work in a friendly secondary school in Portsmouth. This special school caters for approximately 165 pupils aged 11-16 years who have complex learning difficulties. In addition to their learning difficulties, some pupils have other needs associated with autistic spectrum condition, medical conditions, speech, language and communication difficulties. A suitable candidate will have experience working with children who have complex learning difficulties or a desire to gain experience within this area. Job role: -            Safeguarding will be your number one priority ensuring the welfare of the pupils. -            Working under the guidance of a teacher supporting small groups of pupils with learning tasks. -            Supporting children to achieve their personalised EHCP targets. -            Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and communication skills. -            Working with children aged 11-16 pupils.
