Senior Estimator (Vancouver, BC)

Senior Estimator, ConstructionThe individual will report directly to the Director of Estimating but must be able to prioritize time in accordance with deliverables and project schedules.Key Responsibilities:Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.Complete full quantity take-offs for all aspects of each new project as per contract specification.Advise on tendering procedures, examine, and analyze tenders and recommend tender awards.Search leads for bid and proposal opportunities.Financial assessment of contract variations.Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.Good quality and accurate record keeping.Cost value procurement of materials, equipment and labour and current market value assessment.Maintain good relationships and create new ones with trades, subcontractors, and suppliers..Take the lead on bids for final review with management.Oversee estimating team during closings.Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.Visit construction sites and assess project estimate.Encourage learning environment for the estimating team.Required Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:Applicant must have at least a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant disciplines; a M.Sc. degree is a plus.At least 7 years’ experience with large Residential and ICI construction projects in the Canadian Market.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work independently and also as part of a team.Must have the ability to use MS Office programs including word, excel, outlook and PowerPoint to a high standard.Must have a strong ability using onscreen takeoff and Bluebeam, this is a necessity.Being familiar with AutoCAD architecture & Revit, is a benefit but not necessary.It is essential that the applicant can understand engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and construction practices and use this knowledge efficiently on a day to day basis as projects and budget preparations progress.Must be capable of understanding agreements and RFPs.Must have WHIMIS & fall arrest protection as applicant will have to carry out visit sites.Type: Permanent Full-TimeSalary: To Be DeterminedStart date: ASAPJob location: Vancouver, BCPlease note, we do not accept unsolicited resumes/ candidate profiles from firms/ employment agencies.SKYGRiD is committed to building a diverse workforce representative of the communities we serve.
