Senior Director of Government Relations

The Senior Director of Government Relations at the American Academy of Audiology has a critical role in advancing the organization’s strategic priorities. The individual leads a small team in managing all aspects of legislative and regulatory affairs, as well as payor outreach to influence payment policies. Working closely with volunteers and other senior staff members, the individual keeps the organization’s leaders and members informed of critical policy issues of relevance to hearing and balance health care. Responsibilities include: Develop and maintain relations with Members of Congress, Congressional staff, federal agencies, and private payors to advance strategic priorities of the Academy. Work collaboratively with a network of representatives from medical and non-medical organizations, consumer groups, and industry to identify respective strategies for addressing health policy issues and legislation. Provide analysis of health policy and legislation to determine impact on the profession of audiology. Develop position statements, testimony, comment letters, correspondence, and other communications on relevant policy issues. Prepare communications to keep members and the Academy leadership apprised of federal and state legislative and regulatory activities. Work closely with dedicated volunteer leaders and other senior staff. Engage members in grassroots efforts to support Academy legislative activities. Manage a Political Action Committee and a targeted giving plan. Qualifications: Significant years of experience in government relations, policy analysis, and regulatory work. Previous experience in associations or non-profits with a strong familiarity with membership organizations, highly preferred. Strong communication skills, including ability to translate complex issues into brief and clear updates to membership Strong analytical skills Proficiency with MS Office Supervisory experience #J-18808-Ljbffr
