Title: Staff Accountant - Non-profit Jewish Day School
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Candidate Profile:
Robbins Hebrew Academy is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our passionate teamof Jewish Day School administrators committed to excellence in education and community service. Reporting to the Chief Finanical Officer, our ideal candidate will have a robust background in accounting within a non-profit environment, and be proficient in utilizing Blackbaud software, Excel spreadsheets, and other relevant financial tools. This position is best suited for candidates with expertise in tuition management, donation management, CWELCC reporting, and budgeting and forecasting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer.
- Utilize Blackbaud software to optimize financial management, donor management and student management.
- Prepare and distribute accurate and timely financial reports as required.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, including CWELCC reporting and tax receipt issuance.
- Collaborate effectively with administrators, parents, donors, and other stakeholders to address financial inquiries and provide support.
- Assist in revenue budget preparation, monitoring, and financial forecasting.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of all accounts receivable, revenue and fundraising transactions to ensure accuracy.
- Support audit processes and provide necessary documentation and assistance as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial records and sensitive information.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
- Proven experience working in accounting within a Non-Profit Organization.
- Knowledge of Non-Profit accounting principles and regulations.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or education completed in a related field.
- CPA designation an asset.
- Proficiency in Blackbaud software (Financial Edge, Raiser’s Edge) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
