Job Requirements / Description
  • Promote the vision and mission of health and safety and compliance with environmental standards for the plant. Encourage and promote the adoption of safe and environmentally friendly practices that promote the reduction of risks, accidents, and incidents throughout the plant.
  • As a member of the management committee, participate in the development of the plant’s strategic plans.
  • Measure unit efficiency, ensure quality standards are maintained for all products shipped from the plant, and develop/support continuous improvement programs while exercising tight control over expenses and using capital wisely to improve the operation of the department.
  • Maximizes human resources effectiveness by ensuring sound union, management, and employee relations by developing and implementing a participative approach to managing.
  • Lead, motivate and support a large team within a demanding environment. Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development.
  • Driving excellence through leadership. Motivate and mobilize your team to promote excellent working relationships. Provide all relevant guidance and advice to prevent and solve any production and maintenance problems.
  • Ensure the maintenance team effectively supports the production department and that all preventative maintenance programs for processing equipment are in place to keep downtime to a minimum.
  • Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance departments internal capacity.
  • Develop operational budget and ensure operational activities are on time and within budget.
  • Deliver year over year improvements in safety, productivity, quality and cost effectiveness

Job Requirements:

  • 10-15 years’ experience in a unionized manufacturing environment, preferably in the field of Consumer Goods Production
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and influence skills in a managerial position
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing practices and procedures aimed at operational excellence
  • Ability to act as a leader and agent of change in occupational health and safety, particularly in the context of preventive management of workplace accidents
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • University degree, ideally in engineering, is an asset

The starting range for this role is $102,000 to $136,000 or higher, depending on your experience.
