We are looking for an individual who would like to pursue a career in our Transactions group. This position in our Calgary office offers a dynamic and challenging career opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals in an exciting and growing practice delivering business valuations, mergers and acquisition advisory services, and litigation support to clients in a variety of sectors.

As a Senior Associate, Transactions your responsibilities will include:
Assistance with the planning and preparation of valuations engagements to support a wide range of purposes, such as: shareholder planning, management buy-outs, shareholder disputes, litigation support, fairness opinions, purchase price allocations and goodwill impairment
Assistance with the preparation of financial models to support business owners solve complex financial problems
Conduct detailed industry research relating to the preparation of business valuations, due diligence and mergers and acquisitions engagements
Assistance in the preparation of confidential information memorandums (CIM) and other transaction related documentation including buyers lists, confidentiality agreements and compiling and managing electronic data rooms
Support and assistance as part of a team assisting clients with aspects of the purchase and sale of a business
Participation in various business development initiatives (internal and external) including research in support of pitches, proposals and new client prospects as well as attendance at various business development events.

Be a recently qualified CPA, have written the CFE, or on track to writing the CFE in September 2025
Be enrolled in, or have an interest in pursuing, a specialist designation (i.e. Chartered Business Valuator)
Have 2-3 years of related work experience
Previous experience with litigation support (e.g. determination of guideline income, quantification of damages, financial needs assessment) would be considered an asset
Possess strong verbal and written communication
Have strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
Have a positive attitude, ability to role model self-growth behaviours and demonstrate the Doane Grant Thornton coaching and development philosophies
Have a proven ability to be a strong team player and helping those around them improve
Be willing and interested in business development and attending and networking activities
Have strong business acumen, critical thinking skills and the ability to demonstrate interest in a broad range of subjects and current events
Have demonstrated ability to fully engage in client and non-client work to support Doane Grant Thornton goals
Be adaptable, able to negotiate uncertain situations with ease
