By joining CMC’s Quantum Technologies Team, you will be part of a diverse team whose mission is to democratize access to quantum technologies to the Canadian quantum ecosystem. Our newest initiative, FABrIC, strengthens our mission to build a vibrant and sustainable Canadian Semiconductor Ecosystem with world-class talent and global impact. We are looking for individuals with a strong background in quantum computing in a research environment at the intersection of academia and private enterprise. This work directly involves industrial and academic partners advancing innovative research projects. As a Staff Scientist, Quantum Computing, you will play a vital role in the development of quantum algorithm solutions and activities to train industrial and academics partners. You will need to demonstrate the ability to provide scientific solutions for academic and industrial challenges in various fields: biology, chemistry, finance, machine learning, physics, among others. The ideal individual must be able to create good working relationships with researchers from different technical fields, as well as with scientists and managers from industrial sectors. Requirements of the role include: Work with customers to conceptualize and implement quantum computing solutions using CMC’s quantum computing capabilities Ensure delivery of high-quality projects to clients Lead researchers projects and work with team members to support CMC’s activities and customers Provide documentation, train, and support users on a quantum computing platform Participate in outreach efforts including for various presentations, scientific and outreach events, networking within the quantum community Participate in the grant writing process for projects when required Ideal Experience, Education and Skills include: Experience with one or more quantum programming languages Qiskit, Pennylane, Cirq, Forest, etc Experience with one or more classical programming languages Python, C/C++, Julia, etc Experience with Qiskit pulse is an asset Experience interacting with various members of a research group and the ability to communicate clearly with specialists and non-specialists Self-motivated, proactive, demonstrate rigour, autonomy, dynamism, curiosity, excellent organizational skills and passionate about quantum computing A very good knowledge of spoken and written English; French is an asset The ability to write clear, structured, and concise documents Willing to work flexible hours during peak periods, availability for occasional travel Hold a masters or PhD in physics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or any other relevant field with a solid background in quantum physics, quantum computing, and/or machine learning and/or high-performance computing. Minimum 2 years of experience with proven track record of development of quantum algorithms. Development of quantum algorithms in an industry setting is an asset.
