We are looking for a speciality doctor dedicated to, and passionate about, improving health and wellbeing within the Borough of Islington community.
*Your key responsibilities will be to:*
The specialty doctor will provide substance misuse treatment service and will also be the front-line clinician on a day-to-day basis, acting as a reference point for the multi-disciplinary team, taking an active part in ensuring that assessment, treatment and review procedures are consistent and of high quality.
The specialty doctor will have the following duties:
* Providing day-to-day front-line clinical services
* Assessment of drug and alcohol use and dependence and co-morbid psychiatric and physical health problems
* Initiate treatment and sign-controlled drug prescriptions.
* Psychiatric assessment, treatment, reviews and referrals
* Community alcohol detoxification and substitute opioid prescribing (detoxification and harm minimisation approaches)
* Initial medical assessments, treatment reviews, dose reviews
* On-site or satellite clinics in hostels/ home visits/hospitals
* Liaison with local treatment services and partners
* Supporting the building of pathways between mental health teams and the physical health teams
* Clinical supervision of non-medic prescribers, other clinical staff and medical students
* Undertake clinical audit and quality improvement
* Teaching of medical students, junior medical staff & MDT staff

* *Hours per week*: 20-50 hours available

* *Rate of pay: *£59.10 per hour
* *Payment method: PAYE *we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies

* Valid GMC
* Right to work in the UK
* Clinical attachment complete – We do not offer placements in the NHS
* Minimum of 3-6 months paid experience in the NHS/UK
