Join the Financial Solutions Team. In the role of Specialist, Financial Solutions, you will support the delivery of the Housing Accelerator Fund by assessing applications received and responsible for the monitoring outcomes of the successful municipal and Indigenous applicants. You will ensure partnerships with other CMHC divisions and other federal departments for the provision of comprehensive services to clients. You will also drive relationships with key business partners (internal and external). 
 
What you’ll do:

  • Ensures, during the application review stage, that internal risks and social outcomes are appropriately considered while applying sound judgement and business acumen.
  • Builds partnerships and maintains quality relationships with stakeholders to understand the needs and objectives of our clients and offers advice, support and alternative solutions.
  • Reviews and assesses applications within the associated policy framework and delegated financial authorities.
  • Ensures guidelines and procedures are followed while reviewing and assessing applications and manages risk by exercising prudence and due diligence.
  • Supports the delivery of the federal initiative and works closely and collaboratively with peers to achieve business objectives and identify opportunities. 
  • Manages issues of a politically sensitive nature using critical thinking, judgment and experience to find the best solution or outcome.

 
What you should have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in municipal planning, construction financing, real estate, financial markets or credit risk analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing, evaluating and approving loans, subsidies and/or contribution applications.
  • Experience working with municipalities, clients in Indigenous communities and the North. 
  • Solid knowledge of housing finance, planning, delivery, administration and portfolio management, and ability to analyze, reason and work within complex frameworks.
