Job Title: Accounting ManagerJob Type: Full-TimeWork Type: In PersonHours: 35/weekWage: $78,000.00 - $85,000.00Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director and supported by a team of 2 accounting clerks and 1 payroll administrator, the Accounting Manager will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on the financial obligations of the non-profit entity - ensuring funders, auditors, and Board of Directors are well apprised of financial performance of SCCSS. This is a great opportunity to bring your accounting expertise to an organization that is making a huge impact on the Sunshine Coast CommunityKey Duties and Responsibilities:Oversee all financials ensuring timely and accurate reporting of cash flow, budget, forecasting, and other supporting financial information needed for decision-making.As a key advisor to the SLP, meet with SLT members quarterly to review their program financial reports and discuss ways to address any variances.Prepare financial statements at fiscal year-end in accordance with GAAP and Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations.Ensure funders - tax receipts, work with ministry, reporting, etc.Liaise with the Finance Audit Committee, funders, and external auditors as necessary.Act as a key point of contact for all grant applications for the Ministry of Family and Child Development, Vancouver Coastal Health, Solicitor General, and other gov bodies.Ensure all funding received by SCCSS is accurately tracked, funders are well informed and Charitable requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.Maximize use of the accounting (Sage) and payroll (Payworks) systems and internal financial controls to ensure the integrity and reliability of the financial data and timely payment for staff.Lead payroll management for SCCSS.Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.Oversee all compliance, risk mitigation, and audit requirements for the Society.Assist the ED in presenting the financial Board package and other financial information for the Finance Audit Committee and attend Board meetings when required.Negotiate with Banks for lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriate, in conjunction with the Finance Audit Committee.Lead the transition of Sage 300 ERP to become a cloud-base system.Qualifications and Requirements:Recognized accounting designation CPA (CMA, CGA, or CA).Experience in accounting within a non-profit setting plus in a management capacity.Good understanding of risk management, fiscal responsibility, financial reporting, funding, contract laws, budgeting, and partnership arrangements.Knowledge of GAAP plus federal and provincial legislations as it pertains to non-profit accounting principles, standards, and regulations.Experience mentoring a team as well as acting as an advisor across the organization on accounting matters.Able to connect business vision and objectives into programs and policies within the accounting department.Experience with risk management, insurance coverage, and compliance.Comfort in using Sage ERP systems and Payworks would be ideal.Strong technical writing skills. Experience in writing policies, proposals, and grants.Comfortable in collaborating with government bodies, private and public sector, and community agencies to establish, and maintain positive working relationships.Why Work for Community Services?
