Job Requirements / Description
Responsibilities: Scope Assessment and Clarifications : Review specification documents to determine the overall potential scope of projects. Identify items requiring clarification and issue Requests for Information (RFI) to tender authorities. Work Scheduling and Prioritization : Review and update the tender Bid Board to develop and prioritize work scheduling. Quantity Take-Offs and Budget Development : Assemble material and labor quantity take-offs based on construction drawings and specifications. Develop project tender budgets using company methods and procedures. Estimate Development and Submission: Oversee and develop estimates from the tender call to the submittal stage. Calculate unit rates for labor, equipment, and material unit rate tenders. Perform quantity surveys to arrive at direct man-hours and material/equipment costs. Procurement and Pricing: Procure subcontractor pricing and supply of equipment and material quotations. Maintain and update supplier lists for equipment, subcontractor lists, labor rates, and equipment rental rates. Develop RFQ documents for procuring material and equipment pricing from vendors. Review submitted vendor quotations and issue Purchase Orders for material and equipment to vendors. Bid Follow-Up and Relationship Management : Follow up on submitted bids with clients to update the historical bid database. Develop and maintain professional relationships with key persons in the electrical and construction industry. Project Management Support : Communicate with Project Managers and assist with material and equipment procurement for projects. Assist Project Managers with pricing of requested changes on current projects. Team Leadership and Development : Oversee and review the work of Junior Estimators. Review project data with the General Manager to develop an accurate historical database of project costs Skills: Knowledge of relevant CEC and Building Code standards. Ability to interpret specifications and how they pertain to the electrical scope of work. Understanding of the Electrical Trade Scope according to Saskatchewan Bid Depository Basic knowledge of mechanical scope and its relation to electrical trades scope of work. Proficient with MS Word and Excel software. Complete understanding of construction blueprints and specifications. Proficient with all Trimble Estimating and Management software Ability to work alone or as team member under extreme time pressures. Knowledge of complete tender process from tender call to close. Excellent organizational skills with ability to meet multiple deadlines. Good understanding of HVAC controls, fire alarm, voice/data, CCTV, AV, and security systems Electrical construction field experience. Minimum 4 years. Journeyman Electrician certification. Qualifications Red Seal Interprovincial Electrician Journeyperson certificate.
