The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of comprehensive training programs and performance evaluation programs for drivers and equipment operators and will act as an advisor for transportation safety industry trends and regulation requirements.What You’ll Be DoingDuties and Responsibilities:Evaluate new and existing drivers and provide training, education, and coaching on all areas of Federal and Provincial MOT compliance.Perform reviews of applicable motor carrier inspections & violations issued against company vehicles and drivers to identify root causes and provide recommendations of disciplinary actions where warranted.Conduct engaging and collaborative site reviews to evaluate and improve operational compliance.Continuously monitor compliance metrics to identify and improve performance trends.Assist in the development and implementation of performance improvement plans as required.Interpret and implement regulatory and company specific standards, policies, and procedures.Champion safety and compliance across all levels of the organization.Collaborate with field associates and leadership to understand the needs of the organization and develop the tools and resources to support MOT safety and compliance.Seek out industry best practices and implement process improvements to achieve Operational Excellence in Incident Prevention and MOT Trucking Compliance.Remain abreast of current transportation industry safety trends and regulation requirements (TDG).Attend job fairs and industry events in collaboration with the People and Culture Team to attract and retain talented drivers.Other duties as required.What You’ll Bring to the TeamQualifications and Requirements:Valid class 3 or 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement and a clean driver abstract is required. Please note that consideration will be given for experienced drivers even if they no longer carry a valid Class 1 or 3 license, provided they have a valid class 5 license and a clean driver abstract.A minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience operating various trucks is required. Prior class 1 driving experience and/or loading heavy, compact, and aerial equipment is considered a strong asset.A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Transportation Safety Advisor (or similar) role.Ability and willingness to travel regularly for up to a week at a time to deliver training on-site at various locations across Alberta and BC. Approximately 50% - 60% travel time is required.Trained or willing to be trained in principles of adult learning.High-school education and at least 2 years working knowledge of MOT complianceMust possess strong hands-on understanding of Provincial and Federal MOT regulations, including but not limited to: Load Securement, Legal weights & hauling allowances, Over – dimension permitting requirement , Hours of service regulations, Commercial vehicle and maintenance inspection processesCapable of high impact in the field training and instruction to commercial vehicle drivers on vehicle inspections, loading & unloading procedures, e-log documentation and overall compliance with MOT & company policies & procedures.Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, etc.).Strong team player with excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.Ability to influence others while actively displaying integrity, reliability, innovation and professional judgement.Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships with colleagues across various departments within the organization.Experience in managing change and helping teams adapt to new processes or systems.Passion for safety and pride in what you do!Please note, the physical demands of this role require bending.
