The Opportunity:

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor will be responsible for all logistics functions within the facility, including coordinating with internal and external delivery drivers and managing all internal shipping and receiving activities. The incumbent will work closely with Purchasing, Production, QA and Scheduling in order to coordinate movement of product on and off site.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Oversee the order fulfillment operation to ensure the accuracy of receiving, warehousing, FIFO,order picking, cycle counts, and on-time trailer departure
  • Maintain adequate supply of pallets to be used by the facility
  • Support start-up and validation of SKUs and overall processes
  • Full Cycle Export including managing the appropriate paperwork, sign-offs, and logistics to the USA
  • Responsible for activities of supervising the hourly shipping which includes: enforcing conformance with plant rules, co-ordination of staffing, time and attendance administration, addressing complaints, administration of approved disciplinary measures, communication of employee performance, employee coaching and training as per the Employee Handbook
  • Complete appropriate shift reports and communicate cross-functionally
  • Monitor and control labour costs and productivity performance
  • Maintain an inventory information system to aid in production scheduling
  • Submit work order requests to maintenance and follow/up on status
  • Lead weekly workgroup meetings and provide coaching and status updates to the group
  • Ensure compliance with internal company policies and standard operating procedures (ie. HACCP, FSQA, GMP) and external regulations/legislation (ie. CFIA, OHSA, ESA)
  • Act as Back Up Supervisor for Production Supervisors
  • Project work and capital projects as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring:

  • University degree and / or post-secondary education diploma (management studies, food science, engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a Supervisor role
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, leadership, and analytical skills.- Previous experience in a food processing industry an asset.
  • The successful candidate will be self-directed, results-oriented and possess a successful track record in an ever changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Must show initiative and able to exercise timely and good judgment in day-to-day business decisions.
  • Flexible to work shifts
  • Must have intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office, SAP experience or equivalent preferred
