Deputy Manager - Residential Childcare Transforming the lives of children with Lily Residential Services: Join Us as a Deputy Manager Job Type: Full-time 39hrs, MAT Cover Salary: * 39-hour contract: £32,860 - £35,860 (including sleep-in rate) * Sleep-in rate £55.00 (average of 1 sleep-in per week) (Salary scales are dependent on qualifications and previous experience) he Role: Deputy Manager Using your experience of working with vulnerable children and/or those with multiple and complex needs, you will work closely with the children living in Lily Residential. As a Deputy Manager you will support the Registered Manager in delivery of high quality service incorporating care, welfare, safety and security of all children and young people in the care of Lily Residential Service. This role is to support the staff team in managing the day to day tasks of the home, working on shift as the lead person for role modelling and developing good practice and liaising with multi-agency partners. You will also support the Registered Manager in delivering and running a commercial viable home. How you will make a difference: Being responsible for effective day to day running of the residential home in the absence of the Registered Manager; to be responsible for a team of staff, the allocation of work tasks, as well as undertaking direct work with children in the home when necessary. To be responsible for all aspects of the residential premises, including maintenance and health and safety. * Supporting the Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with the company Policy and Procedures and meeting all OFSTED regulations. * Deputise/act up for the Registered Manager in their absence * Safeguarding and promoting the welfare and development of the young people. * Ensuring that the children & young people’s needs are recognised and met where possible. This includes ensuring that they are free from discrimination within the homes and to challenge discrimination from outside of the homes. * Developing and maintain good working relationships with parents/carers, social workers, schools and other professionals involved with the welfare of the children & young people. * Planning , managing and leading shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day. Staff management: * Ensure that all staff under their supervision undertake and complete training in accordance with their induction training schedule and Personal Development Plan. * Ensure that all staff are familiar with Policies and Guidance Notes with regard to the care of children, as well as subsequent guidance (copies available in the homes office in electronic and paper form). * Establish that all staff have written up any incident / accident forms or restraint forms as applicable and that such information is passed to the Registered Manager within the agreed timescale. * Ensure that all staff are familiar with and follow Local Authority Child Missing Person Protocol and follow Lily Residential Missing Person Procedure. * Monitor and ensure that all staff are competent and use the Company’s case recording system. Role Requirements: * An NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent and/or willing to work towards an NVQ Level 5 in Residential Childcare. * Experience working with children/young people in a Residential Childcare setting in a senior role, for at least two years. * Experience in a supervisory capacity (ideally as a senior). * A strong team player. * Knowledge of the Children’s Home Regulations and Ofsted Requirements. * Resilience to keep going at difficult times and to ask for support if needed. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Computer literacy and an eye for detail. * A driving licence and have access to a car to complete your duties. * You will be working a minimum of 39 hours on a shift pattern agreed with the Registered Manager. * The role will include office based days, shifts in the home, weekend working and sleep in shifts. * You will also be expected to be part of a rolling rota pattern with Registered Managers and other Deputy Managers to support with Manager on calls.
