The ideal candidate hired for this position will partner with technical experts throughout the company and be accountable for understanding customer needs and providing meaningful, proactive technical solutions. The Senior Test Engineer will perform requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, verification, and validation for automated test equipment, manual test program sets, as well as embedded diagnostic test applications. Job responsibilities include the ability to generate and/or modify test procedures and test fixtures for systems, assemblies and circuit card assemblies.DRS NPS offers a rare environment where projects are diverse; ranging from legacy systems designed in the 1980’s to the latest technology, ensuring that engineers remain challenged by their work. Engineers are involved in shaping project concepts from the start; collaborate on designs; contribute through individual implementation efforts; and see the results of their accomplishments through completion of integration and test.Job ResponsibilitiesInvolved with the design and development of test programs to measure the functionality and integrity of products and services. Write test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability and evaluates the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications. Debug test hardware and software.Responsible for leading group of engineers on a technical activity and completion of activity on time and budgetDesign, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystemsMay use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments. Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variableProvide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignmentsSpecify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and servicesDrive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirementsDevelop prototypes to retire key development risksCommunicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as requiredParticipate in preparation of proposalsProvide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnelLead and direct the work of others as assignedAll candidates should have a solid understanding of electronics and software programming skills. Candidate must be available to work off shift and weekend hours when testing is in progress if needed.Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationAttend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetingsLead less-experienced engineersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer EngineeringMinimum of 5 years of experienceFluency in technologies and application domainAbility to lead a technical group independentlyPrior experience with MATLAB or LabVIEWU.S. Citizenship required.
