Position Summary

Cameron Stephens Mortgage Capital Ltd. (“CSMC”) is a leading non-bank lender with offices in Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary. The company was founded in 2004 and specializes in commercial real estate loans, particularly land development loans, construction loans, and commercial mortgages and currently manages $3.8 billion of assets. Complementing the mortgage lending business, Cameron Stephens established Cameron Stephens Equity Capital (“CSEC”) in 2020 to provide a new product offering to developers while continuing to offer strong risk-adjusted returns to its investors. The equity team is focused on attracting and supporting best-in-class development partners while delivering market-leading returns for its investors.

CSEC is currently searching for a Senior Analyst to join its growing team. Over the past four years, CSEC has grown its portfolio to five deals under management which represents over $2 Billion of project revenue and 2,100+ units in development. The portfolio consists of three high rise residential projects, one low rise residential project and one commercial project. To support the continued growth of the company, CSEC is looking for a Senior Analyst to lead the acquisition and reporting vertical.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead on underwriting new real estate acquisition opportunities and prepare investment decks for presentation to the Investment Committee
  • Monitor the current investment proformas and business plan vs actual results and re-underwrite accordingly. This will involve reviewing site plans, development schedules and construction schedules for the existing developments and reflecting revisions to plans and schedules in the proforma as directed.
  • Take the lead on obtaining financing for the current projects under management where required. This will involve preparing financing packages and handling any requests from the respective lender group.
  • Complete the quarterly external investor reporting process which will involve providing an update on the projects under management and incorporating updated business plans and metrics when relevant.
  • Provide support in the creation and implementation of standard processes and procedures as they relate to financial monitoring and reporting for internal reporting as well as external reporting to investors and lenders.
  • Gather and analyze financial statements, market data, industry reports, and other relevant information to assess investment viability.
  • Stay informed about macroeconomic trends, industry developments, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors that may affect investment decisions.

Education Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional work experience in finance and acquisitions in the real estate industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant field such as Finance or Business Administration
  • MBA, CFA or CPA designations would be considered an asset
  • Extensive experience in developing real estate models for the various niches in the real estate industry: (i) high rise residential – both condo and rental (ii) low rise residential, and (iii) income producing – commercial
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
