Collaborating with members of the design team, you will develop solutions that are appropriate to the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of large-scale Healthcare projects. You will collaborate with other professional disciplines and have opportunities to coordinate the design through all phases of the project. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase your design and technical leadership in an established and growing Healthcare practice.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelops technical designs and, edits architectural drawings to ensure an exemplary solution is delivered that meets quality parameters, project timelines, and budgetary requirements.Assists in the coordination of permit requirements for city building permit sets.Performs design activities such as programming, code research, material and building systems research, laying out program components, and calculation of program and building areas.Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, details.Evaluates site conditions and performs site surveys; coordinate civil engineering work as it relates to the building design.Interprets and applies building codes, energy code (as applicable), and requirements of regulatory agencies.Coordinates building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) and associated documentation including clash detectionReviews project products, services, and shop drawingsProcesses permit response letters and coordinates revisions with engineers and consultants to obtain necessary documentation and permitsCoordinates with contractor, sub-consultants, or relevant building authorities to address and document issues with constructability or owner concernsLeads the design team; provides mentorship; helping with problem solving but allowing personal and professional growth to take place.Participates in client project requirement meetings.Participates in value analysis and basic cost estimating.Assists in the preparation of specifications in coordination with building plans and the specifications writer.Makes recommendations and selection of building systems and materials.Participates in constructability review.Participate in bidding and negotiation phase and prepare addenda.Coordinates and direct external consultants including evaluation of quality and progress of work.Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects.Ensures that work conforms to project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.Required Skills and Experience15+ years of architectural project work experienceMinimum 10 years experience in Healthcare projectsMaster’s degree in architectureRegistered with a relevant professional architectural association is an assetExperience in all phases of architectural project cycles is requiredProficiency in architectural design software including Revit, AutoCAD, and others as requiredFamiliarity with MEP and Structural building systemsStrong current knowledge of building codes is requiredAbout Us – B+H and Surbana Jurong Group (SJ Group)B+H is a global, award-winning consulting and design solutions firm founded on a legacy of 70 years of creating bold and inspiring places for people.
