What you’ll be working on
- Leading risk identification, assessment, and mitigation efforts throughout the lifecycle of nuclear construction projects, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance are paramount.
- Collaborating closely with project stakeholders to analyze plans, specifications, and site conditions for potential risk factors
- Developing and implementing tailored risk management plans that address the unique challenges, including safety hazards, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact, while also managing contractual aspects to mitigate legal and financial risks.
- Proactively minimizing budget overruns, schedule delays, and quality issues through strategic risk mitigation measures.
- Continuously monitoring project progress and risk indicators, adjusting mitigation strategies as needed to maintain project objectives
- Facilitating open communication and collaboration among diverse project teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure alignment and project success.
- Understanding and adhering to Bird’s safety management system, policies, procedures, and values to maintain a culture of safety excellence.
What we are looking for:
- Post-secondary education, such as a degree or diploma in a related field, and/or relevant combination of experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction project management or risk management, with a focus in the nuclear industry.
- Deep understanding of the construction project lifecycle and associated risks specific to nuclear projects.
- Proven track record of successfully managing risks on complex construction projects, effectively navigating regulatory requirements, and managing contractual aspects to mitigate legal and financial risks.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to think strategically
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate and reliable results.
