Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant Full Time Cheadle, Stockport (SK8) Are you a Psychology graduate looking for an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting? Prospero Teaching is on the lookout for passionate graduates to join a school in Cheadle (SK8) as a Teaching Assistant. This long-term, full-time position is perfect for those who want to work closely with children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This role is ideal for graduates who are eager to apply their psychology knowledge in real-world educational contexts, working as part of a dedicated team to support young learners. Position Details: Location: Cheadle, Stockport (SK8) Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant (Psychology background preferred) Type of Work: Full-time, Long-term (temp-to-permanent) Start Date: Immediate start Hours: 8:30 am 3:30 pm (Monday to Friday) Contract Type: Temporary with potential for permanent placement after a qualifying period Pay: GBP95+ per day, dependent on experience Role Responsibilities: Provide tailored academic and emotional support to students, especially those with SEN, SEMH, and learning difficulties. Assist teachers in adapting learning materials to meet the needs of individual students. Use your psychology background to help students develop coping strategies and improve their social skills. Support children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, focusing on promoting their mental well-being and educational progress. Play an active role in fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment. Qualifications and Experience Required: A Psychology degree or related field. Prior experience working with children or young adults, whether in an educational, coaching, or mentoring capacity, is highly desirable. A keen interest in SEN, mental health, or child development. Up-to-date safeguarding training is beneficial (although this can be provided). Candidate Requirements: Right to work in the UK. Must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate, registered with the online update service. Two professional references, including one child-related reference, will be required.
