Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Rowe Lab Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Boston, MA Full Time The Rowe Lab is interested in understanding how early life development impacts the function of the immune cell population known as T cells in children. In young individuals, T cells have distinct functional and differentiation potential than those from adult individuals. Our lab utilizes a combination of cellular immunology, transcriptomic, and metabolomic tools to understand the biology behind this developmentally mediated regulation of immune cell fate. We are generating foundational studies to understand how these processes, occurring naturally during childhood, impact the ability of children’s immune systems to protect them from infections and pediatric cancers. Responsibilities Willing to learn the techniques of the laboratory and be the primary driver of a postdoctoral project. Well organized with good written and verbal communication skills. Will be required to present research findings at departmental seminars. Comfortable with small animal (mouse) handling, breeding, tissue collection, and procedures is expected. Learn to manage a small breeding colony of genetically modified mice. Use of an electronic lab notebook system is required. Qualifications Ph.D. in biological sciences or equivalent. Experience with cell culture techniques. Experience with flow cytometry (up to 18 colors utilized). Experience with molecular biology (PCR, DNA/RNA collection, immune precipitation, library preparation for sequencing). Interest or experience in learning metabolomics.
