Job Requirements / Description
Small Animal Vet Surgeon, Armidale, New South Wales, Australia. $90k - $130k DOE

The thought of working in Australia has always excited you. You are a good vet, an adventurous vet who wants more from your career.

The outdoor lifestyle, the mountains, the beaches, the long blue-sky days, and their ‘happy-go-lucky’ attitude to life has had you dreaming about moving to Australia for a long time.

How about a new adventure 10,000 miles away? Tempted, then read on.

What if we knew of a vet practice where the team is everything, without silly targets, where vets are free to work on their own cases, and practice with a loyal client base who appreciate what you do? Well, you're in luck as we do and this one is hiring.

A super modern cat-friendly practice with dozens of 5-star reviews is hiring for growth. Not wanting to be just a GP vet, they provide services that aren’t always available locally which helps enrich their professional work but also saves clients travelling hours to a referral centre. They are also opening a new purpose-built clinic in the new year.

This practice has a real ‘family feel’ about it where everyone pulls together when there’s work and relaxes when it’s time. Without the shackles of a large vet group, decisions can be made quickly and ideas are encouraged.

They are looking for a vet who enjoys being a vet. You can expect a good mix of consults, medical workups, imaging, plus basic and moderate soft tissue surgeries. Orthopaedics would be a bonus as would the ability to perform more complex surgical cases.

New graduates are welcome to apply, but what is most important is an emphatic vet, a real team player who wants to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in from the start.

They are super flexible and open to PT or FT candidates, name your hours! Full-time is 4 days, 36 hours with 1:4 Saturday 9am – 12pm. Lunches are militarily enforced so that people get their breaks. There are some after-hours but again they are flexible here and you take home 70% of the fee, not many practices can say that!

So, what’s in it for you? $90,000 - $135,000 prorated DOE, the sky is the limit really with partnership opportunities after 3 years. Vet fees paid, 4 weeks paid holiday pro-rated, plus 1 week of paid study leave. They have a comprehensive CPD allowance and are interested in improving all their vets and investing in them because it’s mutually beneficial. Accommodation can be assisted with on arrival for the first month.

Based in the pretty town of Armidale, NSW. With some great ‘Aussie bars,’ restaurants, shops, a distillery or two and a supermarket, nowhere in the town is more than a 5 min drive away. There’s a ton of sports nearby, bushwalking, national parks, waterfalls, kangaroos everywhere, and the occasional koala. Fancy a weekend away? The nearest beach is just 2 hours away.

So, what’s next? Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Enjoy being a vet again in a relaxed friendly environment.
