The Role
Reporting to the Director of Planning, Engineering & Development, the Manager of Development and Planning is accountable for the management, development and implementation of long and short-term planning strategies, systems, and information in support of the development function. The Manager oversees operations in the planning and development control areas; ensures an integrated approach in the delivery of all services; and strives to ensure services are delivered safely and efficiently.
As a member of the Management Team, the Manager of Development and Planning liaises with all other City departments, divisions and outside agencies to further the interests of the citizens of Mount Pearl. The Manager of Development and Planning also contributes to the development of the City's business plan and operational policy to direct staff decision-making and action.
The Ideal Candidate
Significant years of experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in the areas of planning and development, supplemented by graduation with a university degree in planning or a related discipline; or sufficient qualifications as determined by assessment. Knowledge of municipal government or public administration and membership in good standing with the Canadian Institute of Planners would be assets.
