```html SCOPE OF POSITION The Geotechnical Instrumentation Engineer/Technician will be responsible for performing the project tasks related to the Specialty, in accordance with the company policies, methods and practices. They will provide technical expertise, design recommendations, quality control and managerial support to the Project Manager. ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS Performs the work and enforces the rules in accordance with all applicable regulations, policies, methods, and practices developed for the Specialty. Responsible for safety in the work environment. Prepares submittals, designs, material purchases, and accurate record keeping. Demonstrates ability to perform completely (design, setup, completion and reporting) and successfully the tasks listed below: Pre-installation: design, building, acceptance testing, logging and records keeping, comparing installation plan to technical/client requirements, delivery to site. Notification to Project Manager of defect. On-site installation: assembling, installing, on-site configuring and commissioning, verification of normal readings, documenting and records keeping including Pre and Post-installation photos and forms. Post-Installation: prepare submittals, perform necessary programming of loggers, provide information, documenting and records keeping as required to Project Manager and Monitoring Engineers for their proper software implementation. On-site maintenance and operations: routine QC inspections, calibrations, maintenance and cleaning, observation of system performance, diagnosis failures and subsequently failure prevention, performing repairs as necessary, documenting site conditions and identifying potential problem areas, documentation and record keeping as required. Decommissioning and disposal: uninstall instruments and associated components, dispose of non-reusable parts, repatriate re-usable parts to the relevant office, clean and restorative the site to pre-existing conditions, clean and restorative inventoried instruments for future deployments, documentation of the inventory database. Attends client meetings and participates in presentations as assigned. Provides documentation and supports the Project Manager to prepare and track claims, change orders, extra work orders. Acts as Assistant Project Manager, as required. Assists in risk assessment. Other duties as assigned. SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Education Requirements Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil/Geotech Preferred) or College Diploma in a Civil Engineering/Construction Technician / Technology an asset. Degree in surveying, geodesy mapping or related fields. Post-graduate degree is preferred. Registration with the Provincial Professional Association of Engineers is an asset. Completion of OSHA 10-hour safety training. Currently holds a First Aid/CPR certificate. Driver’s License with clean abstract. Experience Requirements 2-4 years of relevant experience in Instrumentation and monitoring (Sensors installation on Structures, Geotechnical instrumentation installation and/or Total Stations (AMTS) experience). Basic knowledge of job costing procedures. Ability to suggest recommendations to the Project Manager for project-related decisions such as estimating and risk assessment. MS Word, Excel and Outlook relative to reporting site construction and engineering activities. Field investigation experiences such as permitting and various types of drilling is an asset. Technical Skill Requirements Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials of at least 40 lbs and up to 100 lbs, climbing, crawling, walking on uneven ground, and working long hours in all weather conditions. Ability to travel as per the company travel policy, often overnight and away from home. Ability to concentrate to a high degree in a busy and noisy construction environment. Ability to work in all types of weather. Soft Skill Requirements Ability to identify, assess, present and defend claims and change orders for the jobs for the district. Maximize profitability with an efficient and effective turn-around in response to potential problems. Must possess a strong work ethic and represent the company in a professional manner. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must be responsible and work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.
